INCEPTION/ORIGIN.

Since the fall of 2017, COFIA Farms has been growing and developing a vision of greater health and economic development through farming in Eastern Uganda. A host of Rotary partners, COFIA supporters and private individuals have contributed toward our mission.

  • Water wells in Peta and Busia Villages: Rotary Clubs in Washington, USA: Tacoma North, Clover Park, Tacoma #8, and Rotary District 5020 Community Grant; Willetton (Perth, Australia) Rotary Club

  • COFIA Demonstration Farm development: Rotary Clubs in Washington, USA: Tacoma North, Clover Park, Tacoma #8; Willetton (Perth, Australia) Rotary Club

  • Training/Needs Assessment with FACOM (Farming Consult & Management Co.): Tacoma North Rotary and private donation

  • Tororo, Uganda Rotary Club outreach and support: Tacoma North Rotary

  • Bicycles for trainers to visit farm plots: Private donation

  • First season of farming: District 5020 Community Grant, Tacoma North Rotary and private donation

  • BodaBoda motorcycles for trainers to visit farm plots: Private donation / Boeing match

  • Water wells for Rubongi and Magola villages: Private donation / Boeing match

  • Magola property purchase: Private donation

  • New service building on the Demo Farm: Tacoma North, Tacoma #8 and COFIA

  • Solar power for service building: District 5020 Community Grant, Tacoma North Rotary

  • Second Season of Farming: Tacoma North, Tacoma #8 and Puyallup Rotary Clubs

  • Covered truck to take harvest to market and make deliveries between COFIA sites: Private donation
